Visceral and metabolic changes on stimulation of limbic system of brain of monkeys.

چکیده
The control of the limbic system of brain over visceral and metabolic activities in the body has attracted the attention of many workers in the past few years (Anand, 1957). Various visceral and metabolic effects ofstimulations of different limbic structures have already been reported (Kaada, 1951 ; Turner. 1954; Magnus & Lammers, 1956; Anand & Dua, 1956 & 1956a). Disturbances in these have also been reported as a result of destructive lesions involving the limbic structures (Anand, Dua & Chhina, 1957 ; Anand, Chhina & Dua, 1959). The results reported lack unanimity and these probably are due to differences in the techniques used and restricted studies.

P36: Role of Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor in Pathogenesis and Treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a syndrome causing from a severe traumatic happening that leads to threatened death or injury. PTSD is associated with changes in limbic, hippocampal, and prefrontal cortical region function due to changes in synaptogenesis, dendritic modifying, and neurogenesis. Changes in neuron in PTSD patients result from pathophysiological disturbances in inflammato...
متن کاملO7: Limbic System and its Disorders (Focus on Emotions Including Anxiety)
The cerebral cortex can be functionally subdivided into primary sensory-motor, unimodal association, heteromodal association, paralimbic and limbic regions. Broca was the first who described limbic lobe in 1874, as a ring of gray matter, lying between the diencephalon and more lateral neocortex on the medial surface of the hemisphers. It locates outside of the corpus callosum and consists of su...
متن کاملDisruption of temperature discrimination during limbic forebrain stimulation in monkeys.
Neural substrates that may participate in modulating the pain experience were investigated indirectly through the study of the effects of brain stimulation on gross temperature discrimination in Rhesus monkeys. Temperature discrimination performance was disrupted during stimulation of limbic structures (amygdala and orbital gyrus) as compared to somatosensory cortex. Performance errors decrease...
متن کاملThe effects of locus coeruleus electrical stimulation on brain waves of morphine dependent rats
Introduction: Opiates cause dependency via affect on central nervous system. Locus coeruleus nucleus is a main group of noradrenergic neurons in the brain that plays an important role in the expression of opioid withdrawal signs. During opioid withdrawal, brain waves change in addition to physical and behavioral signs. In this study, we examined the effects of locus coeruleus electrical sti...
متن کاملP28: The Effects of Omega-3 and 6 Fatty Acids on Hippocampus and Learning
One of the most nervous system evolution are memory and learning in humans. Learning is a skill that enhances synaptic activity in the hippocampus of prefrontal cortex. In fact, basic passive learning is communication between the conditioned and Unconditioned stimulation. Passive learning involves three steps: habit, education and remember. According to the results of investigations, the hippoc...
